Keith Leach - Head of alburaq
Keith has worked in Islamic banking for over 12 years and was responsible for one of the first Islamic products to be made available in the UK, the Manzil Home Purchase Plans at The United Bank of Kuwait.
In May 2003, Keith joined the Islamic team at ABC International Bank plc to help implement their plans for providing retail Islamic financial services in the UK and Europe. At ABC, Keith launched alburaq which is now the most widely available Islamic retail brand in the UK, supplying Islamic home finance products directly to the UK’s Muslim community and to Lloyds/TSB and the Islamic Bank of Britain.
Keith is a founding member of the original Bank of England Working Party, established by Sir Eddie George to help increase the availability of Islamic finance in the UK and is a member of HM Treasury’s Islamic Finance Experts Group.
Keith Bell - Commercial Real Estate Officer
Keith commenced his banking career with Lloyds Bank and during his time there covered many different aspects of banking.
Since the mid 1980's Keith has concentrated on commercial real estate finance including residential and commercial development, investment and owner occupied property. Prior to joining alburaq Keith spent 7 years with Bayerische Landesbank in a small team successfully building up a very substantial investment portfolio.
Waqar Ahmed - Sales and Marketing Officer
Waqar has worked in the banking industry (Coutts, HSBC and Citibank) for the past 10 years bringing a wealth of customer service and marketing experience.
Waqar’s prime responsibility is for Sales and Marketing for all alburaq product lines, developing strategy and considering new marketing opportunities. In addition Waqar is a key conduit with our Shariah Supervisory board, co-coordinating Shariah meetings and audits. Waqar holds the Islamic Finance Qualification and a 1st Class Honours Degree.
Mehvish Shaffi - Sales and Marketing
Mehvish has over 7 years experience within sales. Her role within Islamic finance involves educating clients on Islamic products promoting and marketing alburaq as a brand and all products provided under the brand name.
Graduated with LLB Honours in law and fully qualified within the mortgage sector, she has a wealth of experience to draw upon to provide the best level of service.
Mohammed Hashim
Mohammed has a broad range of financial services experience having worked in both banking and insurance. Mohammed joined alburaq from the Islamic Financial Services team at Lloyds/TSB where he worked in Islamic Finance Services for 3 years as a sales executive.
